Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

The African Divine Church is rooted in Jesus Christ, the true Vine, as described in John 15:1-17. We are called to abide in Him, bear fruit that lasts, and love one another as His disciples. This foundational understanding shapes our beliefs and practices as a community of faith.

Our statement of faith articulates the core beliefs that define our identity as Christians and guide our life together as a church. These beliefs are not merely intellectual propositions but living truths that shape our worship, our relationships, and our engagement with the world.

While we affirm the historic Christian faith, our statement of faith also reflects our unique context and calling as an African church. We seek to express biblical truth in ways that resonate with our cultural heritage while remaining faithful to the universal message of the Gospel.

We Believe In

The Holy Trinity: one God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This mystery of the Trinity is central to our understanding of God's nature and His relationship with humanity.

Salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Friend, who laid down His life for our redemption. We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and offers salvation to all who believe in Him.

The authority of God's Word to guide, convict, and nourish our souls. We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, authoritative for faith and practice. Through Scripture, God reveals Himself, His will, and His way of salvation.

Baptism by mass water as the essential act of cleansing, commitment, and rebirth into the body of Christ. We practice baptism by immersion as a symbol of dying to sin and rising to new life in Christ. It is an outward sign of an inward reality and a public declaration of faith.

Holy Communion, a sacred sacrament for which only those baptized in mass water within our church are prepared to partake, in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice. We celebrate Communion as a memorial of Christ's death, a proclamation of His return, and a means of grace for believers.

The resurrection, final judgment, and eternity—the gift of heaven for the redeemed and the reality of hell for the unrepentant. We believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ, the resurrection of the dead, and the final judgment. We look forward to the fulfillment of God's kingdom in its fullness.

Our Call to Service

Compelled by God's grace, we are called to serve the least among us as we would serve Christ Himself. This call to service is rooted in Jesus' teaching in Matthew 25:40, where He identifies Himself with the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the imprisoned.

Our service is not motivated by obligation but by gratitude for what Christ has done for us. As recipients of God's grace and mercy, we extend that same grace and mercy to others, particularly those who are vulnerable and marginalized in society.

We are a people of divine purpose, living as vessels of God's grace to a world in need. Our faith is not private but public, not passive but active. We seek to demonstrate the love of Christ through both word and deed, proclaiming the Gospel and serving humanity in His name.

We believe in one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, who calls us to faith, love, and service.
