Leadership Structure

Leadership Structure

The African Divine Church operates under a well-defined leadership structure that ensures effective governance, spiritual oversight, and administrative efficiency. This structure reflects our commitment to order, accountability, and the equitable distribution of responsibilities across the organization.

Our leadership model combines hierarchical authority with collaborative decision-making, balancing the need for clear direction with the value of collective wisdom. This approach enables us to maintain unity while empowering leaders at various levels to exercise their gifts and callings.

The leadership structure is designed to support the church's mission and vision, facilitating both spiritual growth and institutional development. It provides a framework for addressing the diverse needs of our growing membership while maintaining the integrity of our faith and practices.

Top Leadership

At the apex of the ADC leadership structure is the Archbishop, who serves as the spiritual and administrative head of the church. The current Archbishop is Rev. John Saiya Lilege, who provides overall direction, represents the church externally, and presides over major church functions and decision-making bodies.

Assisting the Archbishop are five principal office bearers: the General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary, General Treasurer, and Assistant General Treasurer. These leaders form the core executive team responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of church policies and programs.

The top leadership team is supported by 21 Directors and 25 Assistant Directors, each overseeing specific departments or areas of ministry. These include education, theology, peace and reconciliation, lands and development, youth, resource mobilization, family life, entrepreneurship, culture, and special needs, among others.

Regional and Local Leadership

The church is organized into regional structures, each headed by a Chief Vicar. Currently, ADC has 687 Chief Vicars who provide spiritual oversight and administrative leadership in their respective regions. This regional structure facilitates effective coordination and support for local congregations.

Each region also has specialized leaders for different demographic groups, including 687 Mama Regions (women's leadership), 687 Youth Regions (youth leadership), and 3,612 Pastors who provide direct pastoral care to local congregations. This multi-faceted leadership ensures that the diverse needs of all members are addressed.

At the local assembly level, leadership is shared between 3,612 Mama Assemblies (women leaders) and 3,612 Youth Assemblies (youth leaders), who work alongside the pastors to provide comprehensive ministry to all members of the community.

Institutional Leadership

Beyond the ecclesiastical structure, ADC has developed significant institutional leadership to oversee its various ministries and initiatives. This includes leadership for educational institutions (400 ECDE schools, 30 junior schools, 1 senior school, 1 theological college, 4 vocational training centers, and 1 ECDE training college).

Health facilities are led by qualified medical professionals and administrators, with 4 health facilities providing essential services to church members and the wider community. These institutions operate under the overall guidance of the church leadership while maintaining professional autonomy in their operations.

The church also has specialized leadership for various programs and initiatives, including 277 evangelists (147 male, 130 female), 230+ welfare (community groups), 1 Sacco (ADC Clergy Sacco), 1 CBO (ADC Mother's Union), and the Child at Risk (CaR) program. Each of these initiatives has its own leadership structure while remaining accountable to the broader church leadership.

Decision-Making Bodies

The African Divine Church has three major decision-making bodies that oversee the smooth running of the church: the Annual General Conference, the Council committee meeting, and the Executive committee meeting. These bodies provide forums for deliberation, decision-making, and accountability at different levels of the organization.

The Annual General Conference is the highest decision-making body, bringing together representatives from all regions and departments to review the church's progress, make major decisions, and set the direction for the coming year. It serves as a time of celebration, reflection, and strategic planning.

The Council committee and Executive committee meet more frequently to address ongoing operational matters, implement decisions made at the Annual General Conference, and respond to emerging issues and opportunities. These bodies ensure that the church remains responsive and adaptive while maintaining its core mission and values.
