Membership Information

The African Divine Church welcomes individuals who seek to grow in their faith and contribute to the mission of the church. Membership in ADC is more than a formal affiliation; it is a commitment to a community of believers dedicated to abiding in Christ, loving one another, and bearing fruit that lasts.

With over 2.2 million members in Kenya, 12,223 in Uganda, and 492 in Tanzania, ADC is a vibrant and diverse community of faith. Our members come from various backgrounds and walks of life, united by their common faith in Jesus Christ and their commitment to the church's vision and values.

Membership in ADC provides opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, service, and personal development. It connects individuals to a supportive community and to resources that can help them navigate life's challenges and fulfill their God-given potential.

Becoming a Member

The process of becoming a member of the African Divine Church begins with attending worship services and expressing interest in joining the community. Prospective members are encouraged to participate in the life of the church and to learn about its beliefs, values, and practices.

Those who wish to formalize their membership are required to undergo baptism by immersion, which symbolizes cleansing, commitment, and rebirth into the body of Christ. This sacrament is administered according to the church's beliefs and practices and is a prerequisite for full membership.

After baptism, new members are welcomed into the church through a formal ceremony that includes prayer, the laying on of hands, and a commitment to uphold the church's values and participate actively in its life and mission. They are then integrated into appropriate small groups and ministries for ongoing fellowship and growth.

Benefits of Membership

Membership in ADC offers numerous spiritual benefits, including opportunities for worship, prayer, Bible study, and sacramental participation. Members have access to pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and the supportive fellowship of other believers who can encourage and challenge them in their faith journey.

The church also provides practical benefits to its members, including access to educational institutions (400 ECDE schools, 30 junior schools, 1 senior school, 1 theological college, and 4 vocational training centers), health services (4 health facilities), and economic empowerment programs such as the ADC Clergy Sacco.

Members can participate in various specialized ministries and programs tailored to different age groups, interests, and needs. These include the Mother's Union, youth programs, children's ministries, evangelism teams, and community development initiatives, providing avenues for service and personal growth.

Responsibilities of Members

Members of the African Divine Church are expected to uphold the church's Statement of Faith and to live in accordance with its core values. This includes regular participation in worship services, prayer meetings, and other church activities that foster spiritual growth and community building.

Financial support through tithes and offerings is another important responsibility of members. These contributions enable the church to maintain its facilities, support its ministries, and extend its outreach to those in need. Members are encouraged to give generously and cheerfully as an act of worship and gratitude to God.

Members are also called to use their gifts, talents, and resources to serve the church and the wider community. This may involve volunteering in church ministries, participating in community service projects, or representing the church in various forums and activities.

Membership Categories

The African Divine Church recognizes different categories of membership to accommodate the diverse needs and circumstances of individuals. Full membership is reserved for those who have been baptized according to the church's practices and who actively participate in its life and ministries.

Associate membership is available for those who are unable to meet the requirements for full membership but still wish to maintain a connection with the church. This category includes individuals who may be temporarily residing in areas without ADC congregations or who have other limiting circumstances.

The church also has specialized membership categories for clergy, evangelists, and other full-time ministers who have undergone specific training and ordination. These individuals have additional responsibilities and privileges within the church structure and are accountable to higher levels of church leadership.

Maintaining Active Membership

Active membership in ADC is maintained through regular participation in church activities, ongoing spiritual growth, and contribution to the church's mission. The church encourages members to be actively involved in at least one ministry or small group to foster deeper connections and more effective service.

The church provides various resources and opportunities to help members maintain their spiritual vitality, including regular teaching, discipleship programs, retreats, and conferences. These events are designed to refresh, inspire, and equip members for faithful living and effective service.

For members who may be struggling in their faith or facing challenges, the church offers pastoral care, counseling, and support through its various ministries and small groups. The goal is to ensure that no member walks alone and that all receive the encouragement and assistance they need to remain faithful and fruitful.
