Historical Significance
The plot for Boyani ADC was originally under community ownership or considered no man's land before being officially given to the church. In 1950, seven church leaders approached Chief Antonio Kipketeri of Nyang'ori, who graciously granted them the land for the church's use.
After receiving the land, the leaders worked to develop it into a suitable place for worship and church activities. The approval of Mr. Hunter, the then District Commissioner of Kakamega, was instrumental in formalizing the church's ownership of the land and establishing it as the official headquarters.
The establishment of Boyani as the headquarters marked a significant milestone in the development of ADC. It provided a permanent home for the church and a center from which its activities could be coordinated and expanded to other regions.
Facilities and Development
Over the years, Boyani Mission has developed into a comprehensive facility that supports various aspects of the church's ministry. The main church building serves as a place of worship for the local congregation and as a venue for important church conferences and ceremonies.
The mission is home to Boyani Health Centre, which has expanded over the years to include a maternity wing, a Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centre, and a medical laboratory. These facilities provide essential healthcare services to the local community and beyond.
Educational facilities at Boyani include a nursery school and the Divine Theological Training Institute, which equips church leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for effective ministry. These institutions reflect the church's commitment to holistic development through education.
Spiritual and Administrative Center
As the spiritual center of ADC, Boyani Mission hosts important church events, including the Annual General Conference, committee meetings, and leadership training programs. These gatherings strengthen the unity of the church and provide direction for its ministry.
Administratively, Boyani houses the offices of the Archbishop and other church leaders who oversee the operations of ADC across East Africa. From here, policies are formulated, programs are coordinated, and the vision of the church is implemented throughout its branches.
The mission also serves as a symbol of the church's unity and continuity. As the final resting place of the founding archbishops, it connects the present generation of believers to their spiritual heritage and inspires them to carry forward the legacy of faith and service.
Boyani Mission is more than a location; it is the spiritual heart of the African Divine Church, from which life and vision flow to all our congregations.
