This volume, prepared from the writings and sermons of Archbishop Samuel Andango and published posthumously, narrates the founding and early years of the African Divine Church. It is at once a personal testimony, a historical record, and a theological reflection on what it means to be an African church faithful to Christ.
The first chapters describe the spiritual awakening that led to the founding of the church in 1957, the early days of meetings under trees and in homes, the first ordinations, and the rapid multiplication of congregations across Western Kenya. Subsequent chapters trace the establishment of the church's institutions — schools, clinics, training centres — and the development of its leadership structures.
Throughout the narrative, Archbishop Andango returns again and again to the faithfulness of God, the centrality of Scripture, and the importance of an indigenous church led and sustained by African believers. His voice is at once humble and prophetic, pastoral and bold.
This publication remains a foundational text for the African Divine Church. We commend it to all who would understand our history, our identity, and our calling — and to all who would give thanks with us for the life and ministry of God's faithful servant, Archbishop Samuel Andango.
