The African Divine Church (ADC) is a vibrant Christian community rooted in faith, mission, and service. For over a century, we have proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, planted churches across Kenya and beyond, and served our neighbours with compassion and love.
From our headquarters in Gamalenga, Vihiga County, we gather as a family of believers — children, youth, men, women, and elders — united by a shared calling to worship God, make disciples, and transform communities through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Education Department
Establishing schools, colleges, ECDE Centers, across Kenya. The Education Department of ADC believes that quality education — rooted in biblical values — is one of the most powerful ways to transform lives and communities for Christ. Our institutions range from early childhood centers to secondary schools, vocational training institutes, and theological colleges. We seek to provide affordable, high-quality education that forms both mind and character, and that prepares students for faithful service in their families, churches, and professions. Through this Department, ADC also equips teachers and lecturers, develops curriculum resources, and partners with government and other bodies to expand access to education for the underserved.
Evangelism Department
Spreading the gospel through crusades, outreach, and church planting. The Evangelism Department of ADC is the church's organized expression of its passion to see people come to faith in Jesus Christ. Through mass evangelism campaigns, door-to-door witnessing, open-air preaching, media outreach, and the planting of new congregations, we seek to reach every person in Kenya and beyond with the good news of salvation. We train members to share their faith, equip local churches for evangelism, and identify new areas where churches need to be planted. We believe that every Christian is called to be a witness, and that the church's primary task is to proclaim Christ crucified, risen, and coming again. We invite every member to be part of this glorious mission.
Welfare Department (Family Life, Retirement and Benevolent
Strengthening families and providing benevolent support to the needy. The Welfare Department of ADC seeks to honor God by building strong families and caring for those in material need and the retirees. Through marriage preparation, parenting seminars, counselling, and family retreats, we help families grow in love, faithfulness, and Christ-centeredness. We also run benevolent and retirement ministries that provide food, clothing, school fees, and emergency relief to vulnerable members and neighbor's. We believe that strong families are the foundation of strong churches and strong communities, and that compassionate care for the needy is a non-negotiable mark of the church of Jesus Christ.
Youth Department
Discipling young people through fellowship, mentorship, and service. The Youth Department of ADC exists to reach young people with the gospel, form them as disciples of Christ, and equip them for service and leadership in the church and the world. Our programs include weekly youth fellowships, annual Youth Seminars, regional rallies, mentorship groups, vocational guidance, and service projects. We help young people navigate the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood with biblical wisdom, healthy relationships, and a strong sense of purpose. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of pastors, deacons, professionals, parents, and citizens — young men and women whose lives are shaped by the gospel and whose gifts are deployed for God's glory and the common good.
Women Department
Empowering women in faith, leadership, and community engagement. The Women Department of ADC gathers the women of the church for worship, teaching, fellowship, and service, and equips them for ministry in their families, churches, and communities. Through Seminars, prayer fellowships, Bible study groups, economic empowerment projects, Mothers Union Initiatives and leadership training, we support women in their God-given callings. We celebrate the vital contributions of women to the life and mission of ADC — as prayer warriors, deaconesses, pastors, teachers, and faithful servants. We also advocate for the dignity, safety, and flourishing of women and girls, opposing all forms of violence and discrimination and promoting just and loving relationships in homes and communities.
Children's Department
Nurturing children in Christian faith through Sunday school and programs. The Children's Department of ADC welcomes children in Jesus' name and helps them come to know, love, and follow Him. Through Sunday schools, vacation Bible schools, children's clubs, and special events, we teach children the stories of Scripture, model the love of Christ, and help them take their first steps of faith. We train teachers, develop curriculum, and equip parents to nurture faith at home. We believe that children are a gift from the Lord and that the church's investment in them is one of the most strategic and joyful aspects of our mission. Our prayer is that every child who passes through our ministries will grow to love the Lord with all their heart.

Bishop Saul Chabuga
The first Bishop of ADC with his church officials then. The late Bishop Saul Chabuga was born in 1898 at Jepkoyai of former Kakamega District but currently Hamisi District. Saul migrated from Jepkoyai to Gamalenga where he settled. Before founding ADC, Saul was a member of PAOC until 1949, when ADC was allowed to start its services independently. Saul was the son of Chamwama of “Vasaniaga” clan and Mudasia of “Avasali” clan. The late bishop was blessed with two sons and five daughters. His level of education is not clearly known but he received missionary education from the missionaries of PAOC at Nyang’ori Mission. He died at the age of 72 years in 1970 after heading the church for 21 years. After his death Saul was succeeded by his son James Lilege Chabuga.
Archbishop James Llege Chabuga
Rev. James Chabuga Lilege was born on, 15/02/1928. He was son of Rev. Saul Chabuga Chamwama, the first bishop of ADC. His mother was the late Elia Angano. He was born at Boyani, Gamalenga Sub-Location, Tambua Location, Tiriki West Division, Vihiga District (currently Hamisi District). He belonged to the “Vasaniaga” clan and uncled among the “Vatembuli” clan. He was dedicated on, 20/03/1928 by Rev. Zachariah Oyiengo of Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. He was educated at Gamalenga Primary School in 1935, moved to Simbi Primary School and finished at Nyang’ori in 1939. He was circumcised in 1939 and belonged to Jumo or Jongen I age set. He worked with Mackinon Road in the Ministry of Roads and Construction in 1945. He worked with AS Ghuma in 1959 in Mombasa in a veterinary laboratory. He started the work of the ADC Bishop in 1970. As the Bishop, he established Boyani Health Centre, Boyani nursery school, brought electricity, started the foundation for Boyani Bible College. He also started seven ADC primary schools namely; Wambandu in Vihiga, Mukomba, Singila in Migori, Bondeni in Kakamega, Musou in Nandi South, Bondeni in Lugari and Godown in Lugari. He also constructed various permanent ADC churches. Through him ADC expanded to Uganda and Tanzania. He married Jelida Kanaiza and was blessed with 11 children, 10 daughters and one son. The late Bishop James Chabuga started ailing in 2003 and was diagnosed with diabetes. He succumbed to death in 2005. The first commemoration of Rev Archbishop James Lilege after 40 days in 2005.
Archbishop John Chabuga
Rev. Archbishop John Saiya Lilege was born in 1968, to Rev. Archbishop James Chabuga and Jelida Kanaiza. The Archbishop belongs to the ‘Vasaniaga’ clan and uncled among ‘Vamavi clan. He was born at Boyani, Gamalenga Sub-Location, Tambua Location, Tiriki West Division, Vihiga District currently Hamisi district. The Archbishop attended Gamalenga Primary up to class 7. He passed Certificate of Primary Education (CPE) and proceeded to Kaimosi Boys for ordinary level (‘O’ level). The Bishop passed well and continued with ‘A’ level education at Senende High School which he completed and passed well. He joined Kenya School of Professional Studies and studied Computer. He joined University of Nairobi where he studied a diploma in Business Administration. Archbishop has also attended several church management courses with various church organizations for example, All Africa Council of Churches. He has also graduated with a Diploma in Theology. Before becoming the Archbishop of ADC, he worked for the Milling Corporation of Kenya as business executive personnel. He took over office after his father’s death in 2005. The Archbishop got married to Jane Karegi in 1989. They have four children: two sons and two daughters. As the Archbishop, he has put in place a Strategic Plan for the year 2009 - 2014. The Strategic Plan is to help him and his office bearers to assess the success of ADC by 2014 and be able to improve on any area that would not have achieved its objectives in the Plan then. He has also continued with the construction of the headquarters that had been laid by the father. In terms health services, the Boyani Dispensary has been expanded to accommodate a maternity wing, a Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centre (VCT) and medical laboratory. A dental unit has also been initiated in partnership with Ukweli Mission Hospital. Dispensary services have also been expanded and two clinics have been opened at Mugango and Jemaga. Health education has been expanded door to door, through guidance and counseling and HIV and AIDS testing.

Provision in Time of Need
“A few years ago I lost my job. With three children in school and no source of income, I did not know how we would survive. I prayed, but the situation only seemed to get worse. I felt abandoned. One morning the deacons of our ADC branch came to our home with food, school fees for the children, and a word of encouragement. They told us the church had heard about our situation and wanted to walk with us. They did not just bring help once — they kept coming, kept praying, kept caring. Through their support and through the prayers of the church, I was able to find a new job a few months later. Today our family is restored, and I am a deacon in the same church that helped me. I have seen firsthand that God provides for His people — often through the love and generosity of His church. If you are in need today, do not be afraid to ask. The church is a family, and families take care of one another. And if God has blessed you, look around — there is someone near you who needs your help.”
A New Life in Christ
“I grew up going to church, but I never really knew the Lord. I went through the motions, but my heart was far from God. I lived for myself, and the result was emptiness, broken relationships, and a deep sense of guilt and shame. When I moved to Nairobi for work, a colleague invited me to ADC Nairobi. The first time I walked in, I felt welcomed like family. The preaching was clear and uncompromising, the worship was sincere, and the people were real. After several weeks, the Lord opened my eyes to see my need for Christ, and I surrendered my life to Him. Since then, everything has changed. The guilt is gone. The emptiness has been filled. I have a new family in the church, a new purpose in life, and a living hope in Christ. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. If you are where I was — religious but lost — I invite you to come to Jesus. He is everything your heart is longing for.”
How ADC Restored My Family
“A few years ago, my family was on the brink. My wife and I could barely speak without arguing, our children were confused and afraid, and we had all but decided to separate. We were believers, but we had stopped praying together, stopped reading the Word together, stopped going to church together. A pastor from ADC Kakamega visited us. He did not judge us — he just listened, prayed with us, and invited us to come back to church. Slowly, week by week, the Lord began to heal our family. We started to pray together again, to read the Bible together, to worship together. The pastors and deacons walked with us through every step. Today our marriage is stronger than it has ever been, and our children love the Lord. The church was God's instrument of restoration in our family. I cannot thank Him enough — and I cannot thank the ADC family enough for loving us back to life.”
