Welcome to African Divine Church
A Christ-centred, Spirit-empowered church serving communities across Kenya and beyond since 1957.
Welcome to African Divine Church
The African Divine Church (ADC) is a vibrant Christian community rooted in faith, mission, and service. For over a century, we have proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, planted churches across Kenya and beyond, and served our neighbours with compassion and love.
From our headquarters in Gamalenga, Vihiga County, we gather as a family of believers — children, youth, men, women, and elders — united by a shared calling to worship God, make disciples, and transform communities through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Whether you are seeking a spiritual home, a place to grow, or a community to serve with, we welcome you with open arms. Come as you are — you belong here.
Our Ministries
Discover a place to belong, grow, and serve. We offer ministries for every age and stage of life, rooted in Christ and focused on mission.
Family Life and Benevolent
Strengthening families and providing benevolent support to the needy. The Family Life and Benevolent Ministry of ADC seeks to honour God by building strong families and caring for those in material need. Through marriage preparation, parenting seminars, counselling, and family retreats, we help families grow in love, faithfulness, and Christ-centredness. We also run benevolent ministries that provide food, clothing, school fees, and emergency relief to vulnerable members and neighbours. We believe that strong families are the foundation of strong churches and strong communities, and that compassionate care for the needy is a non-negotiable mark of the church of Jesus Christ.
Youth Ministry
Discipling young people through fellowship, mentorship, and service. The Youth Ministry of ADC exists to reach young people with the gospel, form them as disciples of Christ, and equip them for service and leadership in the church and the world. Our programs include weekly youth fellowships, annual youth conferences, regional rallies, mentorship groups, vocational guidance, and service projects. We help young people navigate the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood with biblical wisdom, healthy relationships, and a strong sense of purpose. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of pastors, deacons, professionals, parents, and citizens — young men and women whose lives are shaped by the gospel and whose gifts are deployed for God's glory and the common good.
Women's Ministry
Empowering women in faith, leadership, and community engagement. The Women's Ministry of ADC gathers the women of the church for worship, teaching, fellowship, and service, and equips them for ministry in their families, churches, and communities. Through conferences, prayer fellowships, Bible study groups, economic empowerment projects, and leadership training, we support women in their God-given callings. We celebrate the vital contributions of women to the life and mission of ADC — as prayer warriors, deaconesses, pastors, teachers, and faithful servants. We also advocate for the dignity, safety, and flourishing of women and girls, opposing all forms of violence and discrimination and promoting just and loving relationships in homes and communities.
Children's Ministry
Nurturing children in Christian faith through Sunday school and programs. The Children's Ministry of ADC welcomes children in Jesus' name and helps them come to know, love, and follow Him. Through Sunday schools, vacation Bible schools, children's clubs, and special events, we teach children the stories of Scripture, model the love of Christ, and help them take their first steps of faith. We train teachers, develop curriculum, and equip parents to nurture faith at home. We believe that children are a gift from the Lord and that the church's investment in them is one of the most strategic and joyful aspects of our mission. Our prayer is that every child who passes through our ministries will grow to love the Lord with all their heart.
Education Ministry
Establishing schools, colleges, and theological training centers across Kenya. The Education Ministry of ADC believes that quality education — rooted in biblical values — is one of the most powerful ways to transform lives and communities for Christ. Our institutions range from early childhood centres to secondary schools, vocational training institutes, and theological colleges. We seek to provide affordable, high-quality education that forms both mind and character, and that prepares students for faithful service in their families, churches, and professions. Through this ministry, ADC also equips teachers and lecturers, develops curriculum resources, and partners with government and other bodies to expand access to education for the underserved.
Health Ministry
Operating clinics, health outreach programs, and community health education. The Health Ministry of ADC bears witness to Christ the Healer by serving the physical and mental health needs of communities across Kenya. Our work includes church-based clinics, mobile outreach to remote areas, maternal and child health programs, malaria and HIV/AIDS initiatives, and training of community health volunteers. We integrate medical care with prayer and the proclamation of the gospel, caring for the whole person. Through partnerships with health authorities, NGOs, and other churches, we seek to extend the reach and quality of our health ministry and to advocate for health policies that serve the most vulnerable.
Community Impact
For over a century, the African Divine Church has been a beacon of hope — planting churches, building schools, and transforming lives through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Church Leadership
Meet the dedicated men and women called to lead, teach, and serve the African Divine Church with humility and faithfulness.
Archbishop Samuel Andango
Archbishop Samuel Andango was the founding Archbishop of the African Divine Church. Born in Western Kenya in the early twentieth century, he came to faith as a young man and soon sensed a clear calling from God to establish an indigenous African church that would honour both Scripture and African identity. In 1957, he stepped out in obedience to that call, gathering a small group of believers for prayer, Bible study, and evangelism. Under his leadership, ADC grew from a humble fellowship into a network of congregations across Western Kenya. He preached the gospel with conviction, trained the first generation of pastors, and laid the spiritual and organisational foundations upon which the church still stands. Archbishop Andango was known for his deep prayer life, his unwavering commitment to holiness, and his love for the people he served. He believed that the church must care for the whole person — spiritual, physical, social, and economic — and so he championed schools, clinics, and relief ministries alongside the preaching of the Word. He went to be with the Lord after a lifetime of faithful service, but his legacy endures. He is honoured at the headquarters in Gamalenga, where a mausoleum stands as a memorial to his life and ministry. The church he founded continues to grow, fulfilling the vision God placed in his heart more than six decades ago.
Archbishop John Chabuga
Archbishop John Chabuga serves as the current Archbishop of the African Divine Church. He was called to this office after many years of faithful pastoral and administrative service within the church, and he carries forward the vision entrusted to the founders with humility, wisdom, and energy. Under his leadership, ADC has continued to grow — both in the number of branches and in the depth of its ministries. He has emphasised the planting of new congregations, the training of a new generation of pastors, the strengthening of the church's schools and health ministries, and the renewal of vibrant worship across the church. Archbishop Chabuga is known as a preacher and teacher of the Word, a compassionate pastor, and a wise administrator. He provides spiritual and directional leadership for the church, convenes the Council of Archbishops and the College of Bishops, and represents ADC in national and international forums. His heart for the church is captured in his oft-repeated encouragement to members: 'Let us be faithful to what God has entrusted to us, and let us trust Him for what is yet to come.' Under his care, the African Divine Church looks to the future with hope and confidence in the faithfulness of God.

A New Life in Christ
“I grew up going to church, but I never really knew the Lord. I went through the motions, but my heart was far from God. I lived for myself, and the result was emptiness, broken relationships, and a deep sense of guilt and shame. When I moved to Nairobi for work, a colleague invited me to ADC Nairobi. The first time I walked in, I felt welcomed like family. The preaching was clear and uncompromising, the worship was sincere, and the people were real. After several weeks, the Lord opened my eyes to see my need for Christ, and I surrendered my life to Him. Since then, everything has changed. The guilt is gone. The emptiness has been filled. I have a new family in the church, a new purpose in life, and a living hope in Christ. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. If you are where I was — religious but lost — I invite you to come to Jesus. He is everything your heart is longing for.”
God Healed My Daughter
“My daughter fell very sick when she was just seven years old. The doctors at the local hospital did what they could, but her condition only grew worse. They told us to prepare for the worst. As a mother, my heart was broken. The believers in our ADC branch began to pray. They came to our home, they laid hands on my daughter, they anointed her with oil, and they pleaded the blood of Jesus over her. We prayed without ceasing, day and night. The church held a special prayer service for her at the headquarters. After two weeks, the doctors could not explain what had happened — but my daughter was getting better. Today she is a healthy, joyful young woman, serving the Lord with all her heart. We give God all the glory. He is the Great Physician, and He still heals today. I want to encourage anyone who is facing sickness in their family — do not give up. Bring your burden to the Lord in prayer. Surround yourself with believers who will pray with you and for you. God is faithful.”
From Darkness to Light
“Before I came to know Christ, my life was full of darkness. I was bound by addiction, my marriage was on the verge of collapse, and I had lost all hope. I had tried many things to change, but nothing worked. I was a slave to sin and could not free myself. One Sunday a friend invited me to ADC Kisumu. I did not want to go, but I went anyway. The preaching was about the love of God and the power of the cross, and for the first time in my life I felt that maybe — just maybe — there was hope for someone like me. At the end of the service, I went forward for prayer and gave my life to Jesus. That was three years ago. Today I am free from addiction, my marriage is restored, and I am serving in my local church. The Lord has done for me what I could never do for myself. To Him be all the glory. If you are in darkness today, I want you to know that the same Jesus who saved me can save you too. Come to Him. He is able.”
